2026 - 2027 HIGH SCHOOL HEAD GIRLS JV BASKETBALL COACH (COACHING ONLY) - SOUTH ATLANTA HIGH SCHOOL JobID: 5070 Position Type: ATHLETICS/ACTIVITIES Date Posted: 6/10/2026 Location: South Atlanta High School Description: South Atlanta High School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Head Coach for the Girls Junior Varsity Basketball Team. Our ideal candidate will have prior coaching experience, a strong understanding of basketball fundamentals, player development, and game strategy, along with the ability to foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and a positive competitive environment. Candidates should be passionate about mentoring student-athletes, developing skills both on and off the court, and contributing to the continued growth and success of our girls' basketball program. The Head Girls JV Basketball Coach will be expected to utilize current strategies and theories to plan, organize, and implement structured lessons. This position reports to the Principal. Performance Responsibilities Knowledgeable and deeply understands the sport; instructs student athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for individual and team success; positively motivates, guides, and instructs with values of moral conduct and growth. Leads staff in planning and organization of the entire program including practices, games, off‑season conditioning, feeder programming, fundraising, awards ceremonies, communications, adherence to policies, and academic progress. Ensures full staff provides proper instruction of student athletes on fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training. Works with Athletic Director, Principal, or designee to make purchases and assign coaches; maintains yearly inventory and budget for equipment and funds. Coordinates game day schedules, prepares rosters, and itineraries 48 hours before events. Collaborates with school leadership, booster club, parents and community to increase participation, raise revenue, secure partnerships, and arrange services such as field maintenance, lodging, meals, emergency services. Ensures each game and practice is conducted in a safe environment; develops site‑specific emergency response plan; ensures all staff are certified in CPR and First Aid; coordinates with trainer, physicians, and parents for injured players. Stays current on GHSA and district guidelines regarding policies and procedures. Monitors athlete eligibility, ensuring physical and insurance forms are current; provides staff quick access in emergencies. Promotes fair play, sportsmanship and ethical standards. Works with media and district PR to promote program successes. Certification Minimum of SRT4‑Certification in content field or GHSA Certified. First Aid & CPR certification required.
