2026 - 2027 HIGH SCHOOL ASSISTANT GIRLS JV BASKETBALL COACH (COACHING ONLY) Job Overview South Atlanta High School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Coach for the Girls Junior Varsity Basketball Team. The role involves planning, organizing, and implementing structured lessons and practices, fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, and a positive competitive environment. Responsibilities Instruct student athletes in fundamental basketball skills, strategy, and physical training. Develop and execute practice plans, game strategies, and off‑season conditioning. Lead staff in program planning, including practices, games, feeder programming, fundraising, and communications. Collaborate with Athletic Director, Principal, and community stakeholders on budget, equipment purchases, and scheduling. Maintain safety standards: create emergency response plans, ensure CPR and First Aid certification, monitor and support injury recovery. Ensure compliance with GHSA and district guidelines and maintain student eligibility documents. Promote fair play, sportsmanship, and ethical standards for staff and athletes. Coordinate media and district PR to highlight program successes. Qualifications and Certifications Prior coaching experience with girls’ basketball. Strong understanding of fundamentals, player development, and game strategy. Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Ability to motivate, guide, and support student athletes academically and personally. Minimum of SRT4 or GHSA certification in coaching. First Aid & CPR certification required. Compensation Stipend: $4,500.00 for the seasonal work year. Work Conditions Physical requirements include prolonged periods of reading and computer use, ability to tolerate noise, lift and move objects up to 10 pounds, and manage stress.
