Job Summary

The Student Assistant will support the Academic Success Center as a Peer Tutor on the Swainsboro Campus beginning Fall 2026.

Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.


Responsibilities

• Assists students by answering subject-specific questions
• Assists students in identifying and overcoming mechanical problems
• Works with students to improve problem-solving skills
• Assists students with a variety of class assignments including essays if applicable
• Works within the Academic Success Center in the Academic Center for Excellence on the Swainsboro campus and virtually as assigned
• Assists students in any Math, Science, and English Courses

Shift Specifics

• Up to 20 hours per week
• Flexible with schedule of availability
• Must be available to work at least 10 hours per week
• Must attend mandatory staff orientation meeting and subsequesnt training sessions

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

• Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education

• Possess and maintain a semesterly GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Successful completion of intended tutoring courses with a grade of "B" or better

Proposed Salary

$12.50 per hour

This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
