HGL (HydroGeoLogic, Inc.) currently has a position open for an experienced Project Manager II based in the Denver, Colorado area. Currently, HGL is seeking a highly motivated Professional Environmental Engineer/Geologist to serve as a Project Manager for a hybrid position in our Lakewood, CO, located on the west side of the Denver metropolitan area. Our Lakewood office is supporting the USACE, USEPA, NASA, DOE and DoD with environmental projects primarily in the Rocky Mountain region. Projects commonly involve investigation and remediation of sites with groundwater and soil impacted by emerging contaminants (PFAS), chlorinated solvents, and petroleum compounds as well as abandoned mine lands. We are looking for a creative professional to provide leadership and project management on complex environmental projects with a collaborative multi-disciplinary project team. Additionally, the PM will have opportunities to manage other projects for HGL across its diverse program and project portfolio. Responsibilities/Duties WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING The person hired for this role will be responsible for: Management of technical and administrative aspects of CERCLA RI/FS, RD/RA, operations and maintenance (O&M), and/or long-term monitoring (LTM) or RCRA equivalent phases of environmental restoration projects. Managing project financials, scope, schedule and deliverables. Ensuring accuracy of cost estimates and quality assurance of technical documents. Perform peer review of technical documents and technical reviews performed by others and provide feedback and recommendations. Participate in or lead project meetings with client and stakeholders. Provide mentorship and leadership to staff. Directing, managing, and leading project teams to meet project objectives in-line with corporate and customer quality expectations. Communicating effectively with clients, regulators, project team members, and company management. Effectively manage project risks and develop mitigation approaches and strategies. Supporting business development efforts, including leading or supporting proposal efforts. Utilize approved digital and AI-assisted tools, where appropriate, to support technical documentation, data analysis, project communications, and workflow efficiency. WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL The ideal candidate will need the following as a foundation for success in this role: Minimum 6 years of project management experience executing and managing investigation and remediation projects under CERCLA and RCRA, including oversight of project teams, management of budget, schedule, safety, quality, technical performance, and customer satisfaction. BA/BS in Engineering, Science, or a related academic field. (MA/MS in a related field may decrease the years of project management experience required). Excellent time management and organization skills, including the ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize and keep organized to ensure timely and accurate work. Ability to build consensus among leadership, internal, and external stakeholders through effective interpersonal communication and relationship building skills. Demonstrated ability to learn and adopt new technologies and digital tools to improve project delivery and operational efficiency. Desired Qualifications WHAT YOU NEED TO STAND OUT – Preferred, not required PE, PG, and/or PMP certifications. Work experience in the western U.S. Experience with investigation and/or remediation of PFAS impacted sites. Experience with investigation and/or remediation of abandoned mine lands. Experience with high resolution site characterization (HRSC). Solid understanding of screening values and risk assessment process. Experience with remedial technologies and approaches. 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification. Experience using generative AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar) to improve technical writing, data analysis, research, visualization, or project delivery efficiency. Physical & Environmental Requirements PHYSICAL & COGNITIVE REQUIRMENTS Prolonged sitting up to 70% of the time. Repetitive hand motions (typing, tool use, etc.) Ability to see details at close range Viewing computer screen for extended periods Ability to interpret and analyze visual data (maps, graphs, warning indicators, etc.) Driving a company or personal vehicle Analyzing and synthesizing data Complex problem solving and decision making Reading and interpreting technical documents or regulations Writing reports, proposals, or technical documentation Leading a team or coordinating multiple priorities Communicating effectively with clients, team members, and stakeholders Managing competing deadlines and shifting priorities WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS Must be able to travel up to 25% per year Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) Office work environment Potential for longer days up to 12 hours in duration.
