Production Technician

OVERVIEW

Grand Prix Plaza, home of the Formula 1 Heineken Las Vegas Grand Prix, is a world-class entertainment and event destination spanning approximately 39 acres in the heart of the Las Vegas Grand Prix circuit. The 300,000-square-foot facility features immersive Formula 1 attractions, premium hospitality experiences, event and meeting venues, retail, food and beverage offerings, and year-round activations that attract guests from across the globe.


The Production Technician is responsible for supporting the safe, reliable, and consistent operation of Grand Prix Plaza's production and technical systems. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Production, this role performs daily inspections, preventative maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and operational support across attraction, show, AV, lighting, scenic, and technical infrastructure systems.

This is a hands-on position that plays a critical role in maintaining show quality, operational performance, and exceptional guest experience. The Production Technician must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, solving technical issues, supporting special events, and assisting with venue conversions, load-ins, and load-outs throughout the year.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform daily inspections, operational checks, opening procedures, and closing procedures for attractions and production systems.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and routine repairs on technical, AV, lighting, scenic, and show systems.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures and operational issues while escalating significant concerns to leadership as needed.
• Maintain the presentation, functionality, and cleanliness of production equipment, show elements, and workspaces.
• Complete work orders, maintenance records, inspection reports, inventory, and other required documentation accurately and on time.
• Support venue operations, special events, activations, and guest experiences through technical expertise and operational support.
• Assist vendors, contractors, and service providers during maintenance, repairs, and installation projects.
• Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, company policies, and OSHA standards.
• Support attraction load-ins, load-outs, seasonal transformations, and Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix activities, leading crews as needed.
• Respond to operational emergencies and assist guests and team members when required.
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 3+ years of experience in technical production, live entertainment, themed attractions, AV systems, facilities maintenance, or a related field.
• Working knowledge of AV, lighting, show control, IT, networking, scenic, and related production systems.
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose technical issues, prioritize repairs, and troubleshoot under operational pressure.
• Knowledge of OSHA requirements, risk management practices, life safety standards, and operational compliance requirements.
• Experience supporting large-scale events, attraction launches, venue activations, or public-facing entertainment operations.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

WORK SCHEDULE
• This is a full-time position that works a varied schedule including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays.


SEASONAL & EVENT-BASED RESPONSIBILITIES

• This role includes a seasonal period during which responsibilities extend beyond standard operations. During load-in and load-out of the Grand Prix Plaza facility, race week activations, and other special projects, this position may support non-traditional functions that fall outside a routine. Flexibility, cross-functional collaboration, and adaptability are essential and required during these high-impact times.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Physical ability to walk, stand, take stairs/elevators/escalators, and navigate the elements during the day and night.
• May need to remain in a sitting or standing position for prolonged periods, and repeat motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Ability to handle exposure to loud noises at live events, attractions, entertaining programs, and crowds.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at times.
