FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN

POSITION SUMMARY

Repairs and maintains electric, diesel, and gasoline industrial trucks and/or construction equipment by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Read work orders and observe and listen to trucks in operation to determine malfunctions/diagnose problems. Offer solutions to meet customer specifications and provide estimates when appropriate. Make mechanical repairs to equipment after a complete inspection and analysis of the breakdown have been completed. Record complete repair description on work order, including model, serial number, and hour meter reading. Obtain signature from a customer and communicate with customers about repair needs or completed work. Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks and make adjustments. Lubricate moving parts and drive repaired truck to verify conformance to specifications. Represent Equipment Depot to customers and maintain a professional image and cleanliness of the van. Track and schedule with operations or service manager when the service van is due for routine maintenance or has other service-related issues. Work in a manner that protects customers, Equipment Depot, and the public. Return paperwork to field service coordinator daily, including work orders, fuel receipts, sublet invoices, etc. Submit time cards by 9:00 a.m. daily; if dispatched from home, call in time to the service administrator by 9:00 a.m.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education : High School Graduate or GED. Experience : One to Three months related experience and/or training or a combination of education and experience. Computer Skills : Knowledge of internet software. Certificates & Licenses : Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Language : Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. Math : Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, use whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning : Apply common sense to carry out written, oral, or diagram instructions; handle problems with multiple concrete variables in standardized situations.

Varies from office to job site to industrial locations.
