Staff Accountant

Position Description: This position is responsible for assisting the Assistant Controller and other Staff in preparing financial statements and organizing, preparing, logging, maintaining, updating and monitoring company accounting files Essential Functions/Accountabilities: Participate in the monthly close process; Initiate and process journal entries; accounts receivable invoices and deposits Prepare and continually update various accounting schedules, including depreciation and property taxes; Reconcile and analyze accounts on a monthly basis; Prepare analysis reports; Provide information and assistance to other departments by explaining account transactions and resolving accounting issues; Provide improvement suggestions for existing departmental procedures or innovate with new ideas; and Assist with special projects. Core Competencies: Ability to meet assigned deadlines Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Systems-oriented, organized with excellent follow-up skills Able to plan and manage multiple projects Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment Knowledgeable in generally accepted accounting principles Supervisory Responsibility: None Work Environment: This job operates within the professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full time at will position, and work hours are typically Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as department needs demand.
