Tax Director – Commercial Tax
A nationally recognized public accounting and advisory firm is seeking an experienced Tax Director to join its growing Commercial Tax practice. This leadership role offers the opportunity to advise middle-market businesses across a variety of industries while leading client engagements, mentoring staff, and contributing to the continued growth of the practice.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage complex tax engagements for middle-market businesses, including S corporations, partnerships, LLCs, and other pass-through entities.
- Provide strategic tax planning, consulting, and compliance services to clients across industries such as manufacturing, distribution, real estate, and professional services.
- Review complex federal, state, and local tax returns and ensure timely, accurate delivery.
- Advise clients on entity structuring, business transactions, and other tax planning opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships while serving as a trusted advisor.
- Mentor and develop managers, seniors, and staff while overseeing engagement workflow.
- Research complex tax matters and stay current on evolving tax legislation and regulations.
- Collaborate with audit and advisory professionals to provide comprehensive client solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
- Active CPA or EA license required.
- MST, JD, or LLM in Taxation is a plus.
- 10+ years of progressive public accounting tax experience serving middle-market businesses.
- Strong technical knowledge of partnership, pass-through, corporate, and multi-state taxation.
- Experience with CCH Axcess and tax research platforms preferred.
- Proven leadership, client relationship management, and team development skills.
- Ability to work in the office at least 3 days per week .
