The candidate would ideally be based alongside our existing team located in Boston MA, New York City NY, Atlanta GA, Houston TX or Plymouth Meeting PA.We are seeking a highly motivated, hardworking and capable individual who is passionate and committed to excellence. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, solid analytical abilities, and the confidence to work both independently and collaboratively across all levels and disciplines.This role partners across the organization to originate, evaluate and execute new business opportunities, with ownership of underwriting decisions and portfolio performance. This is a highly market-facing role demanding strong character, credibility, and advanced relationship-building and negotiation skills. The role carries a high degree of accountability, supported by rigorous data management.The successful candidate will consistently deliver exceptional customer experience while upholding BHSI’s underwriting discipline. They will bring a strong technical and inquisitive mindset, along with a genuine commitment to long-term success at BHSI.Duties & ResponsibilitiesLead underwriting decisions and drive profitable results with a clear focus on long-term successConsistently exercise sound judgment with respect and integrity while delivering underwriting profitTechnically assess complex business proposals, analyze natural catastrophe exposures and evaluate peril modelling, together with calculating pricing and defining coverageLead and further develop our existing broker and customer relationshipsOperate in a fast-paced environment with experience to discern priorities and multi-task effectivelyTravel within the United States and to London, UK.Actively contribute to underwriting strategy and broker engagement with high responsivenessDrive team performance by mentoring and developing underwriters, reinforcing underwriting discipline, and contributing to consistent decision-making across the portfolio.Qualifications, Skills and ExperienceMinimum 10 years’ experience in the Builder’s Risk insurance market with an established and proven track record and strong commitment to a long-term underwriting career with BHSIMotivated self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset Ability to collaborate and work within a wider transatlantic US/UK teamConfident communicator with ability to listen, negotiate and present detailed proposalsStrong underwriting acumen and attention to detailHighly experienced in reviewing policies and evaluating broker manuscript forms together with a deep understanding of natural catastrophe peril modelling and pricing for multi-year construction policiesLong term and established broker relationships within the retail & wholesale brokerage community both regionally and nationallyWilling to travel on business as requiredBA/BS degree qualified.
