Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical Rehabilitation Unit position requiring prior travel experience and a CT or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in a Medical Rehabilitation Unit (MRU/CMU) specializing in medically complex rehabilitation with cardiac monitoring
• Patient population includes LVAD, CVA, ABI, SCI, wound care, CAPD, and ventilator-dependent patients
• Patient ratios are 1:7 for day/evening shifts and 1:9 for nights
• 12-hour night shift from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required to like units including Respiratory Care Unit/Respiratory Step-Down Unit, TRU (TBI and medically complex chronic care), and Hartford Satellite Campus
• Floating is based on weekly need, with respiratory units having the highest demand
• RNs do not manage ventilators, as this is handled by Respiratory Therapists
• Float RNs will not be assigned to Pediatrics unless pediatric-specific experience is confirmed

Requirements

• Active CT or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required, ACLS preferred
• 1-2 years of RN experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Experience with respiratory and ventilator-dependent patients strongly preferred
• Competent in IV starts, medication drips, blood administration, EKGs, medication titrations, and glucose monitoring
• Skilled in wound vac changes, complex and simple wound dressings, and wound measurements
• Experience with trach care and suctioning required
• Competent in straight catheterization, foley care, port access, and central line dressing changes

Additional Information

• Responsible for comprehensive patient care including IV therapy, medication administration, wound care, and respiratory support tasks (excluding vent management)
• Flu vaccination required, with medical declination accepted; personal or religious declinations not accepted
• Orientation held every Monday
• Accepts local candidates at a reduced rate
• Position is a replacement role
