HVAC SERVICE TECHNICIAN – RESIDENTIAL & COMMERCIAL

American Mechanical Services, LLC is hiring an experienced HVAC Service Technician to join our growing team. We are looking for someone who can handle both residential and commercial HVAC work, diagnose systems properly, communicate clearly, and take pride in doing the job right the first time. AMS performs residential, commercial, and light industrial HVAC service, repair, maintenance, and installation throughout the Charleston/Lowcountry area. We are building a company around quality, accountability, and technical ability. This is not a parts‑changing position. We need a real technician who understands systems and wants to grow with the company.

POSITION SUMMARY

The HVAC Service Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and installing residential and commercial HVAC systems. This includes split systems, package units, heat pumps, air handlers, rooftop units, ductless systems, controls, condensate systems, refrigerant circuits, and related HVAC equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Diagnose and repair residential and commercial HVAC systems Perform preventive maintenance and service inspections Troubleshoot electrical, refrigerant, airflow, controls, and mechanical issues Repair and replace HVAC components as needed Install HVAC equipment and assist with change‑outs and commercial installations Complete accurate service notes, photos, material lists, and job documentation Communicate findings clearly with customers, dispatch, and management Maintain truck stock, tools, materials, and company equipment Follow company safety policies and trade best practices Participate in on‑call rotation when scheduled Represent AMS professionally on every jobsite

QUALIFICATIONS

Residential and commercial HVAC service experience required Strong troubleshooting ability required EPA certification required Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required Ability to work independently and make sound field decisions Ability to read wiring diagrams and understand sequence of operation Experience with heat pumps, split systems, package units, RTUs, and ductless systems preferred Must be reliable, organized, and willing to document work properly Must be able to pass applicable background/drug screening if required by customer or project
