More about our team The Intensive Care Unit is a close-knit team that provides comprehensive, high-acuity care to critically ill patients through evidence-based practice, advanced technology, and interdisciplinary collaboration. How you'll contribute An ICU RN who excels in this role: * Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. * Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment. * Documents patient care given. * Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family. * Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation. * Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs. * Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances. * Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient. What we're looking for Applicants should have a current Tennessee or compact state RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include: * Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 7 days of hire, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 3 months of hire, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 3 months of hire. * Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. * Experience: One-year previous experience preferred. * Licenses: Must be a licensed Registered Nurse with the State of Tennessee or a licensed Registered Nurse from a Compact State with the proper Tennessee paperwork filed within 30 days of hire. * Education: Associate's degree required. BSN preferred. We expanded the facility and services in 1991 with the addition of an Outpatient Surgery Unit, a state-of-the-art 24-hour physician-staffed Emergency Department, and an Intensive Care Unit.
