South Seattle College is looking to hire a Grants and Contracts Lead in our Workforce Instruction Department.
Salary Range for this position is $80,000 - $90,000 per year, at 100% FTE*. The grant contract stipulates FTE percentages which will impact the total salary for the incumbent.
- 100% FTE is a full 40-hour schedule

Position Summary
This position provides leadership, oversight and administrative and budget control for the US Dept of Education¿s FIPSE grant (Funds for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education) in the Automotive program in Skilled Trades.
Under the supervision of the Dean of Skilled Trades, this position serves as the first point of contact and coordinates work with the federal Program Officer, college and district business offices to ensure all aspects of the assigned operations meet appropriate college, state and federal standards. The Lead will develop a Project Policies & Procedures Guide for effective grant management, which will outline staff responsibilities, fiscal processes, timelines, lines of authority, reporting procedures, forms, templates for documentation, and other information integral to overall project success and integration into college operations and procedures.
The Lead will set up and work with the District¿s Budget Office to monitor fiscal operations and grant compliance; develop transparent and timely processes for authorization of expenditures; ensure adherence to applicable district, college, state, and federal requirements; prepare and submit required fiscal and annual reports to the College and the US Department of Education; and work with administration and instructional units to institutionalize sound new practices and improvements. Specific job duties and priorities for the grant are listed below in essential functions.
This position is grant funded through December 31, 2029. The FTE for this position is broken down into the following percentages by year (100% FTE is a full 40-hour schedule):
2026: 75% FTE
2027: 25% FTE
2028: 25% FTE
2029: 25% FTE
This position will work a hybrid schedule (both on campus and online as agreed on by supervisor)
This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by AFT-SPS

What you will be working on
- Develop and implement a Project Policies and Procedures Manual to ensure effective management of the federal FIPSE grant.
- Manage monthly program budget and align with federal guidelines. Produce quarterly/annual budget narrative reports and proposals as required by U.S. Dept of Education.
- Maintain all grant documentation and records, including fiscal records, equipment, inventory, time and effort forms for payroll documentation, and monthly progress reports.
- Purchase equipment and supplies for classroom instruction as approved by the US Dept of Education
- Oversee quarterly data collection in collaboration with Institutional Effectiveness.
- Participate in the hiring of grant-funded personnel
- Ensure program objectives are met and monitored, and minimum number of participants is served.
- Perform other related duties, as assigned.

What you bring as a candidate: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience)
- Bachelor¿s Degree.
- 3-5 years project management skills and program administration experience.
- Knowledge and experience with federal grants in a leadership position.
- Knowledge and experience with professional/technical programs.
- Strong commitment to working collaboratively; customer service orientation.
- Experience in program planning, staff supervision and development.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of educational and programmatic methods known to be effective in meeting the needs of under-represented students.
- Significant work experience with people from a diverse background.
Minimum of two years¿ experience in post-secondary educational settings.
