School Bus Driver @ Transportation Department

CLASS TITLE : SCHOOL BUS DRIVER DEFINITION : Under general supervision, operates a school vehicle in transporting children to and from school and on special trips; and performs related work as required. Work Length: Split Shift - 193 days - 5 hours EXAMPLE OF DUTIES :
DIABLO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT 8/81
- Develops the most efficient route for transportation of assigned students
- Drives bus along route, stops and designated points to pick up or discharge students
- Maintains order and enforces rules
- Reports and cities for disciplinary action in cases of extreme or repeated unruliness
- Reports incidents
- Files accident reports when necessary
- Makes routine safety checks on vehicle
- Reports problems or equipment malfunctioning
- Maintains records of all trips
- Keeps bus clean
- Motor vehicle regulations and special codes and regulations related to school buses
- Safe driving practices
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others
- Maintain order under difficult circumstances
- Understand and follow verbal and written instructions
- Keep records
- Maintain good public relations
- Possession of a valid California Class B driver's license
- Class A Bus Driver's Certificate issued by the California Highway
