About the Position

Job Title: RN - ICU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 18 months to 2 years of ICU RN experience License: Current RN license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - 18 months to 2 years of ICU RN experience - BLS - ACLS - NIHSS Description: The role involves providing nursing care in the Intensive Care Unit. The unit consists of 10 ICU beds and 4 PCU beds. Average patient census is approximately 7.3 per day. Patient types include STEMI, stroke, respiratory illnesses, and alcohol withdrawal. The RN-to-patient ratio is 1:2-3, depending on acuity. CNA support is not available overnight. Required skills include: - Stroke experience and NIH assessments - Cardiac rhythm interpretation - Management of critical care drips, ART lines, and CVPs - Experience with chest tubes, PIV starts, and vent management - Ability to perform medication management and complete 12-lead EKGs Support within the department includes house supervisor availability. Charge nurses will be present on shifts. A phlebotomy team assists on all shifts. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7. A hospitalist is available around the clock for patient rounds and urgent situations. Technology utilized includes an EMR system and advanced monitoring equipment. Floating may occur within designated units and regions as needed. Weekend rotation and holiday work expectations apply. RTO requires manager approval. Shift times require clocking in before designated time frames. Teamwork and communication are key aspects of unit culture.
