Physical Education Teacher (Summer Session Only) Stanley G. Falk School | Buffalo, NY

Pay: Starting at $33.96 per hour ($7,133.346 per summer session)
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 7:35 AM – 2:35 PM

This is a temporary summer session position only. This role will run from July 6th through August 14th.

The Stanley G. Falk School, one of the largest Special Education Day Schools in New York State, serves students across four Western New York locations. Falk classrooms are intentionally small, typically serving six students supported by one teacher and one teacher aide, allowing staff to build meaningful relationships and provide individualized support.

This temporary summer opportunity is ideal for certified Physical Education Teachers who are passionate about supporting students with diverse learning, behavioral, and physical needs through structured physical activity and wellness education in a collaborative educational environment.

Responsibilities include:

-Plan and deliver physical education instruction aligned with New York State Learning Standards and individual student needs.

-Develop and implement engaging activities that promote physical fitness, motor skill development, teamwork, and healthy lifestyles.

-Adapt physical education lessons and activities to meet the unique needs and abilities of students with disabilities.

-Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and support staff to ensure student success and participation.

-Maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment during physical activities.

-Monitor student progress and participation and provide feedback as appropriate.

-Respond calmly and effectively to students with extreme or escalating behaviors, using Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) techniques as needed.

-Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating sportsmanship, cooperation, healthy habits, and appropriate behavior.

Qualifications:

-Hold a valid New York State Initial, Professional, or Permanent Physical Education Teaching Certification

-Experience working with students with disabilities preferred.

-Familiarity with Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) or other behavior management strategies preferred.

-Valid NYS driver's license preferred.
