Maintenance Supervisor

Position Overview

ValCorp is seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor I to lead vehicle-maintenance activities, coordinate personnel and workflow, and ensure equipment is properly repaired, maintained, safe, and available to meet customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead maintenance-department activities and coordinate the work of 15 or more employees involved in vehicle maintenance.
• Establish work procedures, prepare schedules, prioritize assignments, issue instructions, and expedite workflow.
• Review work orders, service reports, labor time sheets, and material requests for accuracy before processing.
• Inspect work during and after completion for quality, completeness, compliance, and safety.
• Conduct in-house quality-control reviews, spot checks, safety meetings, and corrective follow-up.
• Supervise parts and inventory ordering, vendor-invoice review, warranty reimbursement tracking, and government-compliant purchasing practices.
• Evaluate mechanic capabilities and determine whether work should be performed internally or by an approved third party.
• Promote shop cleanliness, safe work practices, workforce cooperation, and efficient maintenance operations.
• Communicate employee matters to management, support appropriate disciplinary processes, and assist with interviewing and staffing.
• Perform other position-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• S. citizen or permanent legal resident.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Five or more years of vehicle-maintenance experience through schooling, formal apprenticeship, equivalent training, or verifiable on-the-job experience.
• Knowledge of engine operations, vehicle systems, preventive maintenance, diagnostic practices, and repair methods.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise personnel, manage workflow, inspect repairs, and enforce safety and quality requirements.
• Valid and current state driver's license and ability to operate a government general-purpose vehicle.
• Ability to obtain site forklift and other required licenses or certifications.
• Ability to read and apply technical manuals, service bulletins, wiring or schematic diagrams, data tables, publications, and safety rules.
• Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, and ability to complete maintenance, purchasing, and administrative documentation.
• Ability to pass and maintain required security or facility screening and travel when required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience maintaining and repairing military tactical vehicles, HMMWVs, LMTVs, FMTVs, trailers, ATVs, and related equipment.
• ASE and/or diesel mechanic certification.
• Experience with field repairs and recovery operations.
• Strong troubleshooting, leadership, interpersonal, organization, time-management, and written and oral communication skills.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation and use proper lifting practices.
• Ability to climb in and out of vehicles of various sizes and heights and work at heights when required.
• Work may occur outdoors in extreme temperatures, high humidity, rain, and blowing dust.
• Work may involve prolonged stooping, climbing, standing, or sitting and exposure to distracting or uncomfortable noise levels.

Additional Employment Information

• This is a supervisory position and is not included in the General Classification Wages table of the Fort Polk CBA.
• The selected employee must comply with applicable safety rules, use required Personal Protective Equipment, and maintain required licenses or certifications.
