Job Description

Accounting Director (Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting)

A global manufacturing company with nearly $4B in annual revenue is seeking a Director of Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting to join their growing team. This individual will report directly to the Corporate Controller and be responsible for overseeing external financial reporting, technical accounting, and the corporate close process. The role will also drive continuous improvement initiatives, collaborate cross-functionally, and play a vital role in supporting executive leadership with strategic projects.

Responsibilities:

    \n
  • Lead the preparation of SEC filings and external financial reports, including financial statements, footnotes, and disclosures.
    • \n
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance across all reports through use of consolidation tools (e.g., OneStream) and robust internal review processes.
    • \n
  • Perform and document complex technical accounting research, including areas such as acquisitions, impairments, pensions, and debt transactions.
    • \n
  • Partner with divisional finance teams to provide technical accounting guidance and drive consistency across entities.
    • \n
  • Lead the implementation of new accounting standards and updates.
    • \n
  • Oversee corporate ledger accounting and month-end close activities.
    • \n
  • Collaborate closely with tax, legal, and other corporate functions to ensure compliance with US GAAP and regulatory standards.
    • \n
  • Support executive management with ad-hoc analyses, reporting enhancements, and special projects.

Qualifications:

\n
    \n
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA strongly preferred.
    • \n
  • 8–15 years of progressive accounting experience, including exposure to public accounting.
    • \n
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, SEC reporting, and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
    • \n
  • Manufacturing and/or purchase accounting experience a plus.
    • \n
  • Proven ability to lead reporting processes and deliver under tight deadlines.
    • \n
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
    • \n
  • Willingness to travel up to 15%.
    • \n
