• Position: Locum Tenens Anesthesiologist
• Location: Newport News, Virginia
• Duration: 52 weeks
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $8,910 - $9,390
• Shift Duration: 16-hour day shifts
• Schedule: Day coverage with required weeknight and weekend call
• Case Mix: General anesthesia, orthopedic anesthesia, OB anesthesia, and ENT anesthesia
• Charting System: Epic
• Team Environment: Collaborative anesthesia department with MD supervision of CRNAs

Job Requirements

• M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school
• Completion of an approved residency in Anesthesiology
• Board certification or fellowship required
• Current physician license, with willingness to obtain Virginia state licensure if needed
• At least 1 year of Anesthesiology experience required
• ECFMG and FLEX required as applicable
• Strong clinical judgment and comfort managing a broad range of anesthesia cases

Responsibilities

• Assist in directing and coordinating activities in the anesthesia department
• Provide medical management for patients undergoing surgery and other procedures
• Complete pre-anesthesia assessments and review patient history
• Obtain and verify informed patient consent
• Discuss anesthetic options, risks, and expectations with patients
• Perform induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia
• Monitor physiological status throughout procedures
• Deliver timely clinical interventions when needed to support safe patient care
