Senior Project Manager - Water/Wastewater

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of major water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This role will oversee projects from initial planning and design through procurement, construction, commissioning and handover, ensuring that programmes are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards. You will manage multidisciplinary teams, coordinate consultants, contractors and stakeholders, and provide clear leadership throughout the project lifecycle.


Key responsibilities will include developing and maintaining project execution plans, budgets, schedules, risk registers and reporting frameworks; monitoring progress and implementing corrective action where required; managing contracts, change control, claims and commercial performance; and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, technical standards, environmental requirements and health and safety procedures. You will lead project meetings, prepare reports for senior stakeholders, support procurement and tender evaluations, and build effective relationships with clients, regulatory bodies, supply chain partners and community representatives. The role will also involve identifying opportunities to improve delivery processes, promote innovation and share best practice across the wider project portfolio.


Applicants should have substantial experience managing complex water, wastewater, utilities, civil engineering or similarly regulated infrastructure projects, ideally from concept through to completion. A recognised qualification in project management, civil engineering, construction management or a related discipline is required, together with strong knowledge of project controls, commercial management, contract administration and construction delivery. Experience with common industry forms of contract, such as NEC or equivalent, would be advantageous. You will be a confident communicator and capable negotiator with strong problem-solving, financial management and stakeholder engagement skills. The ability to lead teams, manage competing priorities and make sound decisions in a demanding environment is essential. Relevant professional membership or chartered status would be desirable.
