Quality Assurance Technician

$18.3 per hour

Gerald Industries

Quality Technician (1st Shift)

Gerald Industries, A DEMA Company | Gerald, MO | Full-Time, Onsite

$18.30/hour to start + $1.00/hour Perfect Attendance Incentive

Earn up to $19.30/hour when the incentive is earned

Day Shift Only | 4½-Day Work Week | Early Finish Every Friday

Quality Isn't a Department Here. It's a Habit.

Every part that leaves our building in Gerald ends up in someone else's equipment - a commercial dishwasher, a beverage dispenser, an HVAC system, a piece of ag equipment. Somebody has to be the person who checks it, measures it, and says, "yes, this is right."

That's this job. If you like being the person others trust to catch what they missed, keep reading.

What You'll Earn

  • $18.30 per hour starting base pay
  • Additional $1.00 per hour Perfect Attendance Incentive for eligible employees - up to $19.30/hour*
  • Day shift only, so your evenings belong to you
  • 4½-day work week with an early finish every Friday
  • Minimal mandatory overtime; optional overtime available when you may want it
  • Steady, year-round work - not seasonal, not temp-to-hire

*The $1.00/hour Perfect Attendance Incentive is available to eligible employees who meet the requirements of the incentive program and is applied to every hour worked during the applicable pay period.

What You'll Actually Do

You'll be part of our Quality team, on the floor with the people building the product - not tucked away in an office.

  • Inspect and measure parts at incoming, in-process, and final stages using calipers, micrometers, comparators, gauges, and vision systems
  • Read blueprints and specs to determine what "good" looks like, then verify it
  • Record inspection results and flag deviations before they become customer problems
  • Help sort and disposition non-conforming material, and support corrective actions
  • Run first-piece and last-piece inspections and internal process audits
  • Write and update work instructions so the right method is the easy method
  • Coach production team members on measurement tools and proper technique
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, lean, and product quality planning projects
  • Support calibration, material certifications, and ISO 9001 documentation

You'll Do Well Here If...

  • You notice when something is off before anyone tells you
  • You can hold a hard conversation respectfully - telling a coworker their part didn't pass takes tact, not toughness
  • You're comfortable moving between a computer, a lab bench, and the shop floor in the same hour
  • You'd rather find the root cause than just re-inspect the symptom
  • You like teaching people what you know

What You Bring

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and written specifications
  • Comfort with basic shop math and measurement
  • Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office 365
  • Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment where noise levels are sometimes loud

Helpful, but we will train the right person:

  • 1–3 years of quality, inspection, machining, assembly, or manufacturing experience
  • Associate degree or technical training in a related field
  • Hands-on experience with calipers, comparators, or other inspection gauges
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, SOP writing, MRP/ERP systems, or APQP
  • ASQ certification

If you've inspected parts, run a machine to print, or worked in a role where accuracy mattered - apply. We would rather train a careful person than settle for a credential.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • Company-paid life insurance and disability coverage
  • Paid time off beginning at hire
  • Paid holidays
  • Perfect Attendance and performance incentives
  • Supportive environment for learning and cross-functional collaboration
  • On-the-job training on inspection tools and ISO 9001 practices
  • Employee appreciation events, free coffee bar, and micro-markets in our breakrooms
  • Clean, organized, well-lit facility

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This role splits time between an office/lab setting and the production floor. You can expect to sit, stand, and walk throughout the day, use your hands to handle tools and gauges, and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds. Close, distant, and depth-perception vision and the ability to differentiate colors are needed for inspection work. You may be exposed to varying temperatures, vibration, and airborne particles; PPE is provided and required in designated areas. Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this job.
