Bridge Project Engineer

Bridge Project Engineer (PE) - Buffalo, NYLead Buffalo-area bridge engineering supporting Western New York transportation infrastructure, NYSDOT and municipal bridge work, structural analysis, load rating, inspections, foundation design, construction support, and multidisciplinary roadway and civil/structural project delivery.Design bridges that connect communities while leading technical bridge tasks, coordinating with clients and agencies, supporting Project Managers, mentoring junior staff, and delivering accurate, constructible, standards-compliant transportation structures.What You'll DoLead bridge design tasks, including load rating, structural analysis, foundation design, inspection support, transportation structures, and multidisciplinary civil/structural project coordination.Develop design plans, specifications, cost estimates, reports, budgets, documentation, and technical deliverables aligned with scope, schedule, quality, and project requirements.Support project planning meetings, client coordination, regulatory approvals, presentations, RFIs, construction-phase services, site visits, and technical issue resolution.Review plans and bridge deliverables for quality, accuracy, constructability, code compliance, state and local standards, safety requirements, and client expectations.Collaborate with Project Managers, engineers, inspectors, subconsultants, clients, DOTs, approving agencies, and junior staff while mentoring technical development and sharing best practices.What We're Looking ForB.S. degree in Civil Engineering or related field required; Master's degree preferred.10+ years of transportation experience with a strong background in structures, bridge design, inspection, load rating, and civil/structural project delivery.Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred or ability to obtain it.Proficiency in MicroStation, STAAD, and PENNDOT bridge design software required; familiarity with NYSDOT or PennDOT design standards preferred.Professional ownership, client service, critical thinking, problem-solving, sound judgment, organization, planning, attention to detail, collaboration, integrity, respect, active listening, and continuous-improvement mindset.Preferred QualificationsExperience preparing bridge design plans, structural calculations, load ratings, inspection reports, cost estimates, specifications, and construction-support documentation.Ability to coordinate technical tasks across bridge, roadway, civil, structural, survey, GIS, inspection, subconsultant, client, and agency teams.Comfort mentoring junior staff, supporting technical development, documenting assumptions, and helping standardize quality review and constructability practices.Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to Project Managers, clients, agencies, field staff, and internal project teams.Why Join FisherStep into a technical bridge engineering role where your structural expertise is valued, your judgment matters, and your work directly strengthens public infrastructure.Work on meaningful bridge, transportation, roadway, civil/structural, inspection, load rating, and community-shaping projects while building senior technical depth.Join a collaborative, flexible culture built on mentorship, accessible leadership, ownership, professional development, continuous learning, work-life balance, and employee voice.Compensation + BenefitsSalary range: $95,000-$135,000; actual compensation varies based on experience, qualifications, education, location, and other factors and excludes the value of benefits.Competitive benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), company-paid life and disability insurance, PTO, paid holidays, and supplemental benefits.Hybrid work schedule, professional development reimbursement, shareholders program, tuition assistance, strong work-life balance, and employee groups focused on community, inclusion, and employee voice.Location FlexibilityThis role is based in Buffalo, NY.
