Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Data Associate ECHO. The Research Data Associate—ECHO will support the Environmental Influences on Child Health Outcomes (ECHO) study, a NIH‑funded initiative investigating how early‑life environmental exposures affect children's health outcomes such as obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. This role includes conducting DXA scans to assess bone density, maintaining compliance with radiology equipment standards, and managing radiological data in research databases. Additionally, the associate will coordinate participant communication, collect biospecimens and clinical data, and ensure data accuracy through meticulous management and analysis. Job Responsibilities Radiological Duties Perform bone density testing (DXA scans) by administering scans, ensuring proper participant positioning and accurate machine settings. Set up and calibrate the DXA machine prior to scans. Perform DXA scans following the study protocol and assess bone density. Monitor radiology equipment for proper functionality, including routine checks for calibration, image quality, and diagnostics. Record all relevant data and results in the study database. Provide technical support during procedures and troubleshoot minor equipment issues. Maintain DXA Machine Compliance Schedule and monitor routine maintenance of the DXA machine. Maintain documentation of machine certifications and compliance records. Ensure all required regulatory inspections and certifications are up to date. Collaborate with technical staff to resolve any compliance or maintenance issues. Database Management for Radiological Data Input radiological data into the study's EHR or database system. Ensure secure storage of all radiological results. Monitor and report any discrepancies or missing data. Non‑Radiological Duties Participant Coordination and Communication Obtain informed consent through in‑person, phone, or electronic methods, documenting accurately. Coordinate participant scheduling, confirmations, cancellations, and rescheduling. Conduct follow‑up calls to confirm attendance, collect questionnaire data, and address study‑related concerns. Maintain detailed records of all participant interactions in the study database. Address participant inquiries promptly and professionally. Support participants in completing dietary and physical activity questionnaires. Data and Sample Collection Collect biospecimens (e.g., blood, urine) safely and accurately per protocol. Label, document, and transport samples to the lab following preservation procedures. Prepare and manage sample collection kits and ensure supply availability. Collect clinical data such as body measurements, blood pressure readings, and dietary information. Administer non‑radiological assessments such as questionnaires, anthropometric measurements, chart abstractions, and EHR reviews. Document all data and sample collection activities accurately in the study database. Perform follow‑up assessments to ensure completeness of collected data. Data Management and Analysis Enter collected data into study databases accurately and efficiently. Perform routine data cleaning to ensure consistency and accuracy. Generate reports and summaries to support participant tracking, follow‑ups, and analysis. Assist in analyzing study data and participate in team discussions of findings. Ensure proper documentation and secure storage of all study-related data. Operational Support and Logistics Develop and manage electronic study forms and participant‑facing documents. Track inventory of supplies, including sample kits and equipment, ensuring sufficient stock. Restock materials as needed and report shortages promptly. Support scheduling, report generation, and operational planning for participant follow‑ups. Assist team members with administrative or ad‑hoc tasks as required. Participant Compensation and Documentation Issue participant payments in a timely manner following study protocols. Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of compensation records. Ensure compliance with financial documentation and reporting standards. Address participant inquiries regarding compensation promptly. Team Collaboration and Flexibility Work collaboratively with team members to meet study goals and deadlines. Maintain open, professional communication with colleagues, participants, and stakeholders. Be flexible with working evenings and weekends as required by study protocols. Travel between clinic sites as needed to support study operations. Take on additional responsibilities and tasks as assigned by supervisors. Minimum Qualifications Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and licensed by NYS to practice as a diagnostic radiologic technologist, OR certified by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) and Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI). At least 1 year of experience as a technologist. Desire to work with mothers and young children. Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
