Job Description
Join Our Dynamic Cardiac Telemetry Team!

Job Description:


- Shift Type: 12-Hour Days (0700-1930)
- Schedule: Weekends as scheduled, self-scheduling allowed; block scheduling accommodated
- Unit Overview:
- Unit 3N - Cardiac Tele (Cost Center 14)
- 43 Beds: Semi-private with 9-10 private options
- Average Nurse Ratios: 1:5 (may flex up to 1:6)


- Patient Care Focus:
- Common Diagnoses: Post heart caths, TR Bands, CHF, COPD, Post pacers, medical management or waiting for CABG consults, arrhythmias
- Experience Required: Ability to read strips, comfortable with cardiac patients


- Certifications Required:
- BLS & ACLS


- Responsibilities:
- RN's expected to titrate Heparin; other common titratable drips include Lasix or Bumex (not Cardizem or Amiodarone)
- EKGs may be performed by PCTs; RN's must also be able to perform EKGs
- Charge Nurse available 24/7; may take patient assignments based on unit needs


- Support Staff:
- PCT's ratio goal: 1:8 (flexible up to 1:12-18 depending on staffing)
- Central monitor station for the entire North Tower


- Additional Info:
- Potential for floating within the hospital (ICU rare); only matched with patients within skillset
- Staff accustomed to training new grads and fostering teamwork


- Orientation:
- 1 day of computer training followed by 1 day shadowing with a preceptor


- Dress Code:
- Royal Blue Scrubs required (scrub jackets optional, no hoodies or sweat-jackets)
