Position Corporate Controller Location Corporate Office in Metairie, LA Job Id 435 # of Openings 1 Salary $96,100 to $120,100 base salary. Plus monthly incentive. Role Overview As a dedicated member of the OnPath FCU team, this role performs a variety of tasks that, in partnership with the surrounding departments, provide cost‑effective financial services for the benefit of our members who are our primary focus. The Corporate Controller is responsible for providing and ensuring legal and regulatory compliance for all accounting reporting functions. Oversees Accounting Department, financial statement preparation, regulatory reporting, ensuring reports, accounts, systems, policies and practices adhere to GAAP. The Corporate Controller will assist employees and all appropriate internal credit union partners, conduct daily business interactions and maintain constant alignment with OnPath’s mission, culture, and core values. They demonstrate initiative and sound judgment in the absence of specific direction from management, ensuring value through decision making that supports credit union goals and interests. They build rapport and expand relationships with all members both internally and externally, staying informed on OnPath’s products and services to provide the right recommendations at the right time. They promote and maintain a positive image of the credit union to peers, members, and communities we serve. Major Duties and Responsibilities Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls with emphasis on detail and process improvements. Oversee disbursement activities, ensuring accurate and timely processing of accounts payable and employee expense reports. Work closely with the CFO to oversee, train, mentor and evaluate accounting staff, manage performance, and uphold core competencies within the department. Work closely with the CFO to ensure accurate and timely filing of the quarterly Call Report and month‑end close process. Provide assistance with regulatory exams and audit requests. Maintain accurate records on all credit union assets, liabilities, income, and expenses. Manage department projects and participate in meetings as assigned; participate in a wide variety of special projects. Ensure staff is well‑trained, effective, and utilized optimally; provide leadership through clear objective setting, effective delegation, and open communication. Conduct meetings to inform staff of policy, procedural, and legal updates; discuss areas for improvement and identify training needs. Develop and implement training programs, conduct training sessions, and facilitate cross‑training where appropriate. Administer leave, time sheets, and performance appraisals; formulate and implement corrective actions when necessary. Knowledge and Skills Experience: Five to ten years of similar or related experience, including time spent in preparatory positions; 2 years supervisory experience preferred. Education / Certifications / Licenses: A bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Accounting or Finance is required; MBA or CPA preferred. Interpersonal Skills: Ability to motivate or influence internal or external senior level professionals; obtain cooperation and agreement on important outcomes via complex senior‑level dialogues; professional written communication skills. Other Skills: High level of analytical skills; strong general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and banking knowledge; strong decision‑making skills, high emotional intelligence, proficiency in conflict resolution and effective delegation; exceptional time management and communication skills; commitment to fostering creativity, mentoring team members, and driving continuous improvement; adaptability, customer focus, and financial acumen.
