Responsibilities
- Provide professional nursing care to patients across the age spectrum within a Med Surg unit.
- Assess patient needs, problems and concerns; perform ongoing data collection across physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual and cognitive domains, including nutrition and pain, plus patient/family education, involvement and advocacy.
- Formulate and implement a goal-directed plan of care, prioritizing patient and family needs; update the plan as conditions change with input from the patient and family.
- Document clearly and accurately in the electronic medical record system; ensure timely updates as patient condition evolves.
- Educate patients, families and caregivers about the plan of care; participate in interdisciplinary care planning; delegate and coordinate duties of the health care team as appropriate.
- Contribute to unit operations by participating in orientation and training of staff and students; ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations; communicate effectively with patients, families and the health care team with a professional demeanor.

Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license to practice in California
- Ability to provide nursing care to patients across the age spectrum in a Med Surg environment
- Proficiency with documentation and electronic medical record systems
- Strong communication skills with patients, families and the interprofessional team
- Willingness to participate in orientation and training; educate patients and families about the plan of care
- Compliance with required vaccinations and organizational policies; E-Verify participation
