The Machine Operator safely operates, and monitors equipment used in the production of solar photovoltaic (PV) modules. This position supports production, quality, equipment uptime, and efficiency while following established safety procedures, work instructions, and quality standards. This position is responsible for meeting established safety, quality, production, and efficiency standards while identifying equipment or product issues and promptly communicating concerns to Production, Quality, Maintenance, or Engineering personnel. 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:  

• Safely operate assigned solar module manufacturing equipment and production processes. 
• Load, unload, position, and handle production materials and finished products. 
• Monitor equipment performance, production output, and product quality. 
• Perform approved equipment cleaning, inspections, setup, adjustments, and basic troubleshooting. 
• Report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, defects, and quality concerns promptly. 
• Work with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering to minimize downtime and resolve production issues. 
• Perform required quality inspections and identify nonconforming materials or products. 
• Accurately record production, downtime, scrap, defects, and other required information. 
• Follow SOPs, work instructions, PPE requirements, machine-guarding, lockout/tagout, and other applicable safety procedures. 
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. 
• Assist with changeovers, line startup/shutdown, material replenishment, and employee training as assigned. 
• Perform other related duties consistent with the position and production needs. 

Educational Requirements: 

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required. 
• Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability preferred. 
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and accurately complete production documentation. 
• Strong attention to safety, quality, reliability, and detail. 
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment 

Experience: 

• Must have 2+ years or more in a manufacturing environment with experience in machinery operations and troubleshooting. 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:  

The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including: 

• Standing and walking for extended periods. 
• Reaching, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and performing repetitive hand and arm movements. 
• Safely handling glass, solar cells, modules, and other production materials. 
• Lifting and carrying materials weighing up to approximately 35 pounds, with team lifting or mechanical assistance when required. 
• Visually inspecting products and monitoring equipment controls. 
• Working around manufacturing equipment while wearing required PPE. 

Work Environment and Schedule 

Work is performed in a manufacturing environment and may involve noise, moving equipment, production materials, and temperature variations. 

The position may require 12-hour day or night shifts, rotating schedules, weekends, holidays, and overtime based on production needs. Overtime will be compensated in accordance with applicable laws.
