JLC Electrical Contractors is looking for a creative, motivated Social Media Content Intern / Field Content Creator to help us capture and create content from our residential, commercial, generator, and construction projects throughout Monmouth and Ocean Counties.

This is a great opportunity for a student, recent graduate, aspiring content creator, photographer, videographer, or marketing professional looking to build their portfolio while gaining real-world experience working with an established local contracting company.

We aren't looking for someone to simply repost stock photos. We want someone who can visit real JLC job sites, recognize what will make interesting content, and help us show customers the quality of work that goes into our projects.

What You'll Be Doing

• Visit JLC residential and commercial job sites to capture photos and short-form video.
• Photograph and film electricians performing installations, service work, generator projects, lighting projects, renovations, and other electrical work.
• Capture before-and-after content and project progress.
• Create short videos and Reels for Instagram and Facebook.
• Help develop creative ideas for social media content.
• Identify interesting moments on job sites that could become educational or promotional content.
• Capture high-quality photos for our website, social media, advertising, and marketing materials.
• Help organize and maintain a library of JLC photos and videos.
• Assist with captions, content ideas, and basic social media planning.
• Occasionally interview or film technicians explaining projects or electrical tips.
• Help show the personality of our team and what it's like behind the scenes at JLC.

Content We Want to Create

• Outdoor and landscape lighting
• Commercial construction
• Electrical panels and service upgrades
• EV charger installations
• Before-and-after transformations

• Behind-the-scenes job-site content
• Educational electrical tips
• Project walkthroughs
• Customer project highlights
• Seasonal and storm-preparation content

Who We're Looking For

You do not need to be an electrician.

We're looking for someone who:

• Has a good eye for photography and video.
• Understands what makes content visually appealing.
• Is comfortable working around active construction and job sites.
• Can take direction but also bring us new ideas.
• Is personable and comfortable interacting with technicians and customers.
• Understands Instagram, Facebook, Reels, and short-form video.
• Can shoot vertically for social media as well as horizontal photos/video for our website.
• Is dependable and able to travel locally to different project locations.
• Can work independently once given direction.
• Pays attention to small details in the background before taking photos or video.
• Is interested in marketing, photography, videography, social media, construction, home improvement, or a related field.

Experience with CapCut, Canva, Adobe, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, Final Cut, or similar programs is a plus, but not required.

A professional camera is also not necessarily required if you can produce high-quality work using a modern smartphone.

Portfolio Required

Please submit examples of content you have personally created with your application.

We would especially like to see examples involving:

• Construction/job sites
• Architecture
• Outdoor projects
• Home improvement
• Landscaping
• Automotive or equipment
• Trades or contractor businesses
• Before-and-after content
• Short-form/Reel-style videos

School projects, personal projects, freelance work, and portfolio projects are all welcome.

What Makes This Internship Different

You'll have access to real projects instead of having to create mock content for a portfolio.

One day you may be photographing a whole-home generator installation; another could involve a luxury residential lighting project, a commercial construction site, an EV charger, or one of our electricians troubleshooting an electrical system.

We want someone who can eventually arrive at a project and think:

"Here's what would make a great photo, Reel, before-and-after, or story."

We also want your ideas. If you see an opportunity for content that we're missing, we want you to tell us.
