About the Role
The Company is seeking an Associate General Counsel with a focus on NC Regulatory matters. The successful candidate will be an experienced attorney with a JD from an accredited law school, a minimum of 7 years' legal practice, and a strong background in state energy regulatory policy issues. Substantial experience with state utility commissions, energy policy, and renewable energy is preferred, particularly in the areas of litigation and oral advocacy. The role involves providing high-quality legal guidance on a range of utility matters, with a special emphasis on integrated resource planning, and developing and maintaining client relationships. The Associate General Counsel will also be responsible for routine legal matters, including ratemaking, PURPA policy issues, and other regulatory compliance concerns. Applicants for the Associate General Counsel position at the company should be licensed to practice law in North Carolina or eligible for admission. The role requires a candidate with a proven track record in handling complex legal assignments, conducting legal research, and providing strategic legal advice. The ideal candidate will have a broad and in-depth knowledge of the energy industry, including emerging energy issues, and experience in administrative litigation and regulatory proceedings. Strong communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills are essential, as is the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The position demands a high level of attention to detail, the ability to work under pressure, and a commitment to excellence in legal practice.
