About the Position

PCA management skills are necessary. Experience with colostomy care and feeding tube care. Competency in blood product administration is required. Central line care and management experience is essential. Peripheral line care and management skills are needed. Phlebotomy skills are required. PICC line management experience is necessary. IV starts experience is essential. Knowledge of dysrhythmias management is required. Oxygen protocol management skills are needed. Non-invasive airway management experience is essential. Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE use is required. Experience with traumatic brain injury care is necessary. Skills in surgical drains management are required. Chest tube management experience is essential. Nasal cannula and oral suctioning skills are needed. Tracheostomy management experience is required. Wound care skills are necessary. Epic documentation experience is required. Description: RTO (Request Time Off) after booking is not allowed and will not be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on the unit could turn into a cancellation. Traveler experience is accepted for first-time travelers. This position may require floating to similar units and alternate care locations with inpatients. Travelers will be assigned to work every other weekend. Contract staff may be required to work during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters. Consolidation to a centralized office may occur mid-contract and contract staff may be preassigned to units as needed. Target patient ratios are 1:5-6 and candidates must be comfortable with these ratios. Patient diagnoses include severe injury to bones, joints, and/or soft tissue. Knowledge of orthopedic trauma and neuro trauma care is beneficial. Unit systems include Pyxis and Epic. Candidates must pass EKG testing prior to starting this specialty. Daily census for the unit is approximately 32 patients. The patient population primarily consists of adults. Unit staff collaborate with various interdisciplinary support teams for optimal patient care.
