Senior Construction Estimator / Lead Estimator (Public Sector)

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the full estimating process from initial review through bid submission
- Prepare detailed, accurate cost estimates for public and private projects
- Manage multiple bids simultaneously under tight deadlines
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and project requirements
- Perform and/or oversee quantity takeoffs for all trades (including MEP)
- Solicit, qualify, and level subcontractor and supplier bids
- Develop scopes of work and bid packages
- Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving strategies
- Maintain and expand subcontractor and vendor relationships
- Participate in post-bid interviews and negotiations
- Support project team during turnover and pre-construction phase
Qualifications:
- 8–10+ years experience in construction estimating (NYC required)
- Strong experience with public sector projects (SCA, DDC, DASNY, NYCHA, etc.)
- Proven track record of successfully winning bids
- Deep understanding of commercial and institutional construction
- Experience with lump sum, GMP, and negotiated work
- Strong knowledge of MEP systems and pricing
- Ability to lead and mentor junior estimators (if applicable)
- Advanced proficiency in estimating tools (Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, etc.) and Excel
- Strong subcontractor network in NYC
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
- Compensation:
- Salary starting at $175,000 + bonus
- Performance-based bonuses tied to bid success and company growth
- Potential leadership track (Chief Estimator role)
