CNC Mill Machinist

This role focuses on setting up and operating CNC vertical mills to produce highly precise components for the medical device industry. You will work with extremely tight tolerances, perform frequent inprocess inspections, and take ownership of the quality of your parts from setup through deburring. Depending on your skill level, you will handle a mix of longrun production and midrun setups on multiple machines, with clear opportunities to advance into more complex prototype work.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC mills to produce precision parts for the medical device market, consistently meeting extremely tight tolerances.
• Perform a variety of longrun production and midrun setups on multiple machines, adjusting tooling, offsets, and programs as required.
• Use Fanuc controls and G and M codes to run, adjust, and troubleshoot CNC mill operations.
• Interpret and work from blueprints and job documentation to ensure parts meet all dimensional and quality requirements.
• Conduct frequent inprocess inspections using standard inspection equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and microscopes.
• Deburr your own parts under a microscope to ensure precise finishes and compliance with medical device standards.
• Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot issues to maintain productivity and part quality.
• Follow established processes and documentation requirements in a highly regulated, medicalfocused environment.
• Collaborate with team members and quality personnel to resolve issues and continuously improve machining processes.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safetyfocused work area in line with precision machine shop standards.

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of onthejob experience running CNC mills, with experience on Fanuc controls and practical knowledge of G and M codes.
• Minimum of 1 year of setup experience, including performing basic setups, tool changes, and offsets on CNC mills.
• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and related technical documentation.
• Handson experience with inprocess inspection using calipers, micrometers, and microscopes.
• Demonstrated ability to deburr precision parts under a microscope.
• Experience operating and setting up vertical mills in a production environment.
• Proven troubleshooting skills for CNC mill operations to resolve machining and quality issues.
• Comfort working with tight tolerances and strict quality requirements, ideally in a regulated or medical device setting.
• Readiness to perform as a machinist rather than a basic machine operator, taking full ownership of setups and part quality.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Background in a precision machining environment, particularly supporting medical device or similarly regulated industries.
• Exposure to longerrun production machining where process discipline and consistency are critical.
• Familiarity with quality systems, documentation practices, and process controls common in medical manufacturing.
• Interest in further developing skills in machining, machine setup, quality, finishing, programming, and engineering through structured training.
• Motivation to progress into advanced roles such as prototype machining or journeymanlevel expertise.
• Previous experience in shops known for tighttolerance work and strong process orientation is beneficial.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $111000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
