Police Officer, Entry Level

Position Summary Full‑time, permanent, safety‑sensitive Police Officer with the Anne Arundel County Police Department. A $10,000 signing bonus will be awarded upon successful completion of training milestones: $1,000 at hire, $4,000 after Police Academy, and $5,000 after the probationary period. Responsibilities Patrol traffic, investigate crimes, perform administrative duties, and provide support services. Operate motor vehicles in all weather conditions and use police radio communications. Respond to a wide range of criminal activities including homicides, sexual assaults, robberies, property crimes, domestic violence, vice, narcotics, and juvenile offenses. Conduct overt and covert observation, listen for emergency sounds, and react promptly. Engage and, if necessary, physically restrain uncooperative individuals using minimum force. Provide emergency response at land or water accidents, administer first aid, direct traffic, and perform rescue functions. Maintain written reports, prepare and present court testimony, and manage case files and correspondence. Support additional duties as required by the department. Qualifications High school graduation or equivalent. Successful completion of recruit training, probationary period, and a valid non‑commercial Class C driver’s license. U.S. citizenship required. Minimum age 21 by February 23, 2028. Ability to learn and apply police principles, practices, and equipment. Willingness and ability to work in adverse, dangerous, and unpredictable conditions, including day/night shifts. Excellent judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills. Physical stamina to stand, walk, drive, lift, and perform prolonged activities. Responsibility for controlling and using firearms and self‑defense tools after training.
