Registered Nurse - Psychiatric

Job Description

Job Summary:

The Psychiatric Registered Nurse will provide specialized mental health care to adolescent and adult patients in a busy emergency and inpatient psychiatric setting. They will be responsible for managing patient needs, de-escalating crises, and supporting treatment plans under the supervision of medical and psychiatric physicians.

Responsibilities:

• Assess and monitor patients' mental health status, ensuring safety and stability.
• Administer psychotropic medications, including IM injections and PO medications.
• Utilize de-escalation techniques and restraint procedures to manage disruptive behaviors.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement treatment plans.
• Document patient interactions, interventions, and progress accurately in medical records.
• Assist with transportation, phlebotomy, EKGs, and other patient care duties as needed.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid RN license and meet state licensing requirements.
• Possess at least 1 year of recent psychiatric experience.
• Have prior medical experience preferred, such as MS, MS-Tele, PCU, or ICU.
• Demonstrate proficiency in de-escalation, crisis intervention, and restraint use.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications required; additional crisis prevention certifications needed prior to start.
• Knowledge of managing patients with severe mental illnesses and behavioral issues.
