Job Description
Join a specialized manufacturing team that designs and builds advanced palletizing and material handling equipment for the food, beverage, and chemical industries. As a Mechanical Assembler, you will interpret detailed mechanical and electrical documentation to assemble complex machinery, contribute to continuous improvement efforts, and help prepare equipment for shipment to well-known global brands.
Responsibilities

• Use machine drawings, assembly drawings, control schematics, and bills of materials to accurately build equipment according to specifications.
• Interpret blueprints and technical documentation to identify components, assembly sequences, and required materials.
• Perform structural assembly, mechanical drive assembly, fluid control assembly, guard and cover assembly, mechanical assembly, and simple electrical assembly using hand and power tools.
• Ensure all assembly work meets quality workmanship standards, including neatness, accuracy, and acceptable efficiency levels.
• Conduct quality assurance checks in accordance with established procedures and documentation (e.g., Blue Books).
• Provide accurate documentation of labor hours, material issues and returns, material movements, and material scrap reports.
• Follow established inventory reordering policies, including Kanban processes, to ensure adequate stock of parts and materials.
• Assist in the reduction and elimination of non-value-added work by identifying improvement opportunities in assembly processes.
• Prepare equipment for shipment, including machine teardown and safe handling of assembled systems.
• Collaborate with other assemblers in small teams to complete projects efficiently and safely.
• Work safely on platforms up to approximately 20 feet high and 70 feet long when required for assembly tasks.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of mechanical assembly experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in mechanical assembly using hand tools and power tools, including Milwaukee tools.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, machine drawings, assembly drawings, and control schematics.
• Competence in using a tape measure and other basic measuring tools to ensure precise assembly.
• Experience performing structural assembly, mechanical drive assembly, fluid control assembly, guard and cover assembly, and simple electrical assembly.
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality workmanship, neatness, and accuracy.
• Ability to complete quality assurance checks following documented procedures.
• Basic documentation skills for recording labor, material usage, material movements, and scrap.
• Comfort working on elevated platforms and in a team-based assembly environment.
• Willingness to work overtime, including occasional involuntary overtime on Fridays or Saturdays, as communicated in advance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience assembling equipment for food, beverage, or chemical industry applications.
• Familiarity with Kanban or similar inventory management and reordering systems.
• Ability to support large conveyor and palletizing system builds in coordination with related facilities.
• Strong problem-solving skills to address assembly issues and adapt to engineering changes.
• Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and share documentation accurately.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sun Prairie, WI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.50 - $23.50/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
