You will be a System Safety Engineer for the System Safety Engineering Team which is responsible for ensuring the safety and mission success of the F‑22 aircraft. What You Will Be Doing As the System Safety Engineer you will be responsible for leading safety analyses and supporting the System Safety Program Plan throughout the aircraft development lifecycle. Your responsibilities will include: Develop, maintain, and execute the System Safety Program Plan. Conduct Functional Hazard Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, Preliminary Hazard Analysis, System Safety Analysis, and Software Hazard Analysis. Perform quantitative and qualitative risk assessments and trade studies to optimize design choices and recommend controls. Coordinate system safety activities with design teams, suppliers, internal management, and external customers. Provide technical guidance on hazard mitigation and collaborate with adjacent disciplines to support program objectives.

You are a collaborative, detail‑oriented engineer with practical experience in aircraft systems. You thrive in complex, interdisciplinary environments and are driven to deliver high‑impact solutions that safeguard mission‑critical assets.

Military or civilian flight experience Knowledge of MIL-STD-882, MIL-HDBK-516, ARP-4761, and/or ARP-4754 Knowledge of FAA and military regulations and processes Previous experience writing technical reports on complex subject matter Experience with military or government programs Knowledge of statistical analysis methods Aircraft system safety engineering experience Training or experience related to system safety or airworthiness Model-based system engineering (MBSE) training or experience

Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week

This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $73,400 - $129,260. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
