Summary The Youth Advocate is responsible for supporting and facilitating the social and personal development of adolescents and teenagers. A Youth Advocate is a guide and mentor to youth who gives direction in their academic, vocational, and personal lives and pursuits. Essential Functions Implement SEL/College/Career skill-building curriculum and research-based assessment. Develop academic and social emotional goals with students using Motivational Interviewing techniques. Conduct ongoing individual and small group sessions with youth to build SEL skills and support academic achievement. Participate in and help plan student activities such as school tours, trips, and eventsrelated to College & Career development. Participate in mentoring activities and assess the youths’ progress towards the fulfillment of decreed goals and objectives. Be aware of popular culture and trends to be able to connect with students. Demonstrate as a perfect role model. Attend related professional development opportunities to build personal/professional skills. Perform other related duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities None Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or equivalency. Bilingual in one or more of the following: Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Bengali and others, may be required depending on client and location needs. Ability to plan and carry out assignments independently. Ability to prioritize, adhere to timelines, communicate with stakeholders, and manage competing tasks.
