The Opportunity

Our Technology, Media & Privacy practice group is seeking a full-time paralegal to support attorneys primarily based in our San Francisco and Los Angeles offices. The team represents insurers that issue policies covering technology, cyber/data breach, privacy, and related risks.

This role is well suited for someone with strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. The position may be based in either our San Francisco or Los Angeles office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal, factual, court docket, and records research
  • Organize, analyze, cross-check, and validate information and documentation
  • Prepare written reports and draft legal documents, including briefs, appeals, contracts, legal agreements, and correspondence for attorney review
  • Review legal forms and documents for accuracy and completeness
  • Maintain detailed electronic case files and records
  • Review correspondence from clients, vendors, insureds, and retail/wholesale brokers to take appropriate action and monitor file status
  • Communicate with clients, vendors, insureds, and retail/wholesale brokers regarding inquiries and requests, including loss runs
  • Draft and maintain claims bordereaux
  • Review vendor invoices for reasonableness and compliance with insurer guidelines
  • Meet annual billable hour target of 1,200 hours

Paralegal Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of paralegal experience
  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 1 year of legal experience, or a paralegal certificate/degree from an accredited college or university, or certification from an ABA-approved paralegal program
  • Strong knowledge of legal principles, legal research methods, legal terminology, and applicable government regulations
  • Excellent legal drafting, writing, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and critical thinking abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to work with databases and online technology platforms
  • Detail-oriented, diligent, adaptable, and highly organized
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively with multiple attorneys in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to always maintain confidentiality and exercise professionalism

Work Location and Schedule

Atheria supports flexible working arrangements, including remote work when appropriate. At the same time, we value in-person collaboration to strengthen teamwork, deepen institutional knowledge, and deliver exceptional client service.

This position follows a hybrid schedule, with in-office attendance required a minimum of two - three days per week during standard business hours, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Compensation

  • The expected annual salary for this position is $80,000 - $90,000. The salary offered will be determined by a range of factors including but not limited to experience level, relevant skills, and location of position. Paralegals also participate in an hours-based bonus and discretionary bonus program.
