Physician Assistant, Ortho

Position Overview The Physician Assistant, Specialty is responsible for promoting and maintaining health by providing medical services under the supervision of a physician. The incumbent must demonstrate the ability to function both independently and in collaboration with other health care professionals, consult with the clinical leadership team to ensure compliance with guidelines, and participate in risk and quality management programs and clinical meetings. Key Responsibilities Contribute to physician effectiveness by identifying short‑term and long‑range patient‑care issues, providing commentary, recommending options, and implementing physician directives. Assess patient health through interviewing, performing physical examinations, and obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories. Determine abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests (e.g., x‑rays, electrocardiograms, laboratory studies) and interpreting results. Document patient‑care services by charting in patient and department records. Perform therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing, and wound and infection management. Instruct and counsel patients on therapeutic regimens, growth and development, family planning, emotional issues, and wellness promotion. Provide continuity of care by developing and implementing patient‑management plans. Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection‑control policies and protocols. Comply with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying legislation, anticipating changes, enforcing adherence, and advising management. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing publications, establishing networks, and participating in professional societies. Develop health‑care team staff by providing information, educational opportunities, and experiential growth opportunities. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Perform other duties as assigned and modified at the manager’s discretion. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrated record of consistently achieving clinical performance metrics. Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Time‑management skills and the ability to work well under pressure. Caring, empathetic, and attentive listening skills. Detail‑oriented with a focus on patient charts, medications, and follow‑up details. Basic computer skills and some knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Willingness to travel locally, regionally, and nationwide up to 75% of the time. Spoken and written fluency in English; bilingual is a plus. Ability and willingness to exercise independent judgment. Education and Experience Criteria Master’s Degree required. Current DEA number from the DEA for schedule II‑V controlled substances may be required based on state of practice. Minimum one (1) plus year experience working in a healthcare or specialty practice preferred. Successful completion of a program recognized by the Commission on Education of the Physician Assistant and appropriate state licensure and certification. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required within the first 90 days of employment. Compensation Pay range: $111,140 – $158,771. Final compensation will depend on factors including experience, education, geographic location, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for bonuses or commissions.
