CNC Lathe Operator / Setup Technician

Position Summary The CNC Lathe Operator / Setup Technician is responsible for the setup and operation of CNC lathes, converting metrics to standard, and using calipers and micrometers. A strong understanding of quality is required. Experience with Haas controls is a plus. Key Responsibilities Machine Operation & Setup Set up and operate Haas CNC lathes to produce high‑precision components. Interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD files. Perform routine maintenance and ensure machines are operating safely and efficiently. Convert metric to standard because our blueprints are metric while machines are programmed and run in US standard. Programming Develop and optimize CNC programs using G‑codes and/or CAD/CAM software (e.g., Fusion 360, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Mastercam). Adjust cutting parameters and offsets based on material type and thickness to ensure quality and minimize waste. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure that tooling meets safety and performance standards. Quality Assurance Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges). Ensure all components meet dimensional and surface finish specifications. Documentation & Reporting Maintain accurate records of machine settings, programs, and maintenance activities. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and provide feedback on process enhancements. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum 3 years of experience operating and setting up CNC lathes. Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and G‑code programming. Strong understanding of mechanical drawings, tolerances, and materials. Familiarity with Haas controls is a plus. Excellent problem‑solving skills and great attention to detail. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment. Keeping a clean and safe work environment. Work Environment Manufacturing floor environments with exposure to machinery, noise, and metalworking processes.
