Summary

Provides a complete array of services to students with identified communication problems, including students whose primary disability is "speech-language impairment" and students with other primary disabilities who have needs in the area of communication.

Essential Functions

This class specification lists the major duties and requirements of the job and is not all-inclusive. Incumbent(s) may be expected to perform job-related duties other than those contained in this document and may be required to have specific job-related knowledge and skills.

• Performs pre-referral consultations to general and special education teachers.
• Oversees case management for students with speech-language impairments.
• Performs due process compliance, third-party billing, program data collection, and funding reports.
• Works to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in students.
• Completes evaluations that consist of comprehensive initial and reevaluations for all types of communication disabilities.
• Oversees standard-referred IEPs and IIIPs (intervention that supports literacy and other standards).
• Performs direct intervention services to students in the least restrictive environment (include classroom-based service).
• Performs indirect intervention and consultative services to teams, teachers and parents.
• Performs other site-based and special education duties, including support of district literacy goals.
• Promotes and supports the overall mission of the District by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with public and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.

Education and Experience: MA degree Required

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation. Driver's license. Minnesota teaching license in Speech-Language Pathology.

Required Knowledge:

Physical/Mental Requirements: The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed in a school environment, using standard office equipment and stamina to sit for extended periods of time; strength to lift and carry up to 20 pounds; vision to read printed materials and computer screens; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.

Working Environment: Work is performed in a school setting. Travel required to locations throughout the District.

Hours & Compensation: 1.0 - FTE (.80 FTE Meadowbrook Elementary +.20 FTE Franklin Private Schools) - 185 Days.
