Job Description
This role focuses on installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of electrical and mechanical equipment in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. You will support production operations by ensuring that upsetters, shears, blasters, cranes, conveyors, extrusion presses, PLCs, robotic systems, and facility utilities operate safely and reliably.
Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical and mechanical controls and devices on upsetters, shears, blasters, cranes, conveyors, extrusion presses, PLCs, and other related equipment.
• Install and troubleshoot motors, drives, starters, and electrical circuits to support production machinery and facility systems.
• Perform building and facility maintenance, including electrical devices, compressed air systems, and natural gas distribution within the plant.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on assigned equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
• Apply safe operating procedures and follow all safety protocols during maintenance and repair activities.
• Complete written records, maintenance logs, and documentation as required for equipment history and compliance.
• Use materials, tools, and supplies properly and efficiently to perform maintenance tasks.
• Read and interpret blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures and plan repairs or installations.
• Assemble machines and secure them to foundations or structures using bolts, welding, rivets, or other fastening methods.
• Perform maintenance on robotic systems, including Motoman, ABB, and Fanuc robots.
• Measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit for electrical installations and modifications.
• Drill holes for wiring and pull or push wiring through openings in walls, floors, and equipment.
• Trace and locate short circuits and other electrical faults in wiring and equipment.
• Assist in lifting, positioning, and fastening objects such as wiring, conduit, motors, and other components.
• Perform minor electrical repairs such as replacing fuses, light sockets, bulbs, and switches.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and keep supplies and parts organized.
• Disassemble defective electrical equipment, replace worn or faulty parts, and reassemble equipment to restore operation.
• Perform non-load-bearing, basic welding tasks as needed for repairs and equipment installation.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 4+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a heavy manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience with 480V electrical troubleshooting on production and facility equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics accurately.
• Strong electrical maintenance skills, including installation, repair, and preventive maintenance.
• Mechanical maintenance skills, including repair and upkeep of industrial machinery.
• Hands-on experience with hydraulics and pneumatics in an industrial setting.
• Competence in troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical issues.
• Ability to perform basic welding tasks for non-load-bearing applications.
• Comfort working with PLC-controlled equipment and robotic systems such as Motoman, ABB, and Fanuc.
• Proficiency in print reading and schematic interpretation for both mechanical and electrical systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in heavy industrial manufacturing environments, particularly with large-scale production equipment.
• Experience in maintenance of conveyors, cranes, extrusion presses, and similar equipment.
• Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and documentation practices.
• Ability to work overtime, including weekends, to support production and shutdown maintenance as needed.
• Willingness to work variable union shifts with open availability due to shift assignments not being guaranteed.
• Capability to perform building maintenance and facility utility support, including compressed air and natural gas systems.
• Strong organizational skills to maintain tools, parts, and supplies in an orderly manner.
• Readiness to participate in skills testing and hands-on evaluations as part of the role and union requirements.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cleveland, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.70 - $40.80/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
