Job no: 503622 College / VP Area: College of Arts & Sciences Work type: Staff Location: Newark, DE Categories: Research & Laboratory, Full Time Pay Garde: 90E Context of the Job: We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join a dynamic, interdisciplinary research team investigating the molecular mechanisms of subcellular RNA transport and post transcriptional regulation mediated by microRNAs during early development. This is a unique opportunity to conduct cutting-edge science and collaborate with a dedicated team of students to advance knowledge in the fields of cell and developmental biology. Responsibilities We are seeking a highly motivated researcher to join our laboratory, which focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms of post-transcriptional regulation during early development using sea urchin embryos and mammalian cells as models. The successful candidate will contribute to a collaborative project investigating the evolutionarily conserved functions of microRNAs and their subcellular transport during development. Utilizing microinjection, cellular, molecular, biochemical, proteomics, and fluorescence microscopy techniques, the researcher will develop novel approaches to assess microRNA regulation and functions in fixed and living embryos and mammalian cells. Additional responsibilities include: Plan and execute research tasks independently Write up and present findings on a regular basis Mentor and work alongside a small team of undergraduate and graduate students Qualifications Education: Ph.D. in Developmental Biology, Cell Biology, RNA Biology, Molecular Biology, or related field. Technical Expertise: A strong background in molecular and cellular biology techniques, including molecular cloning, confocal imaging, protein expression, biochemistry, and cell culture Research Skills: Demonstrate experience in experimental design, data analysis, and data interpretation, alongside a proven ability to bring research projects to completion and publication Collaboration: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team Communication: Excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills.
