Bus Assistant

Title: Bus Assistant

Assists students during the boarding, riding, and exiting the school bus.

Essential Functions:

• Assists students with boarding and exiting school buses.
• Secures students in car seats or seat belts as needed/required.
• Maintains acceptable standards of conduct and dress.
• Assists in the transfer of students from one bus to another.
• Supervises students while on the school bus.
• Maintains courteous, professional, and effective working relationships with parents, students, school staff, school officials, and all levels of employees.
• Works the days and hours necessary to perform all assigned responsibilities and tasks.
• Performs related duties as necessary and as assigned by the supervisor for transportation.

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma and/or GED.
• Successful experience working with children is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• The candidate must be eighteen (18) years of age, at the minimum.
• An active and valid Virginia Driver's License is preferred.
• Relates well to all students.
• Relates well to colleagues and supervisors.
