Engineer I Salary DOE Summary: Under direct supervision, performs assignments designed to develop engineering work knowledge and abilities through the application of standard techniques, practices and procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provides entry-level engineering support for small and somewhat repetitive projects. Conducts small or repetitive studies or participates in larger studies evaluating performance, cost, and scheduling. Provides basic engineering support to operational areas. Communicates engineering ideas, recommendations and evaluations. Represents the Company in fundamental technical matters. Provides entry-level technical support and interacts with associates. Uses Company and industry standards to ensure safety and consistency of engineering results. Provides occasional technical direction and/or activity supervision to contractors and lower-level personnel. Competencies Knowledge and ability to apply basic and well‑established principles, practices and regulations. Read, interpret and apply national, state and local codes and standards (IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NESC, ACI, AISC, etc.). Good leadership, self‑motivation and interpersonal skills. Translate electrical theory and physics to utility application for reliability. Confidence working in and around high voltage (up to 345kV) facilities. Qualifications Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET‑accredited institution plus 1–3 years related experience. Certificates, licenses and registrations: Current, legally valid driver’s license. Communication skills: Ability to read, interpret, write routine reports, speeches, presentations, and speak effectively before various audiences. Computer skills: In‑depth knowledge of personal computers, including proficiency with electrical engineering design programs (e.g., Autocad). Work Environment: Primarily office with periodic field exposure; protective equipment required. Engineer II Salary DOE Summary: Under general supervision, independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques commonly employed in a specific area. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provides engineering expertise for intermediate, conventionally‑sized projects. Conducts or participates in studies evaluating performance, cost and scheduling of alternatives. Applies routine engineering techniques to support operational areas. Communicates engineering ideas, recommendations and evaluations effectively. Represents the Company in intermediate engineering matters. Provides technical support consistent with standards to associates. Participates in formulation of Company and industry standards. Provides technical direction and/or activity supervision to contractors and personnel as required. Competencies Apply standard engineering principles, practices, regulations and economic/decision analysis to area problems. Read, interpret and apply national, state and local codes and standards (IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NESC, ACI, AISC, etc.). Good leadership, self‑motivation and interpersonal skills. Translate electrical theory and physics to utility application for reliability. Comfortable working in and around high voltage (up to 345kV) facilities. Qualifications Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET‑accredited institution plus 2 or more years of experience, or 1 year with Fundamentals of Engineering certificate, or 1 year plus a Master’s Degree. Certificates, licenses and registrations: Fundamentals of Engineering certificate preferred; current, legally valid driver’s license. Communication skills: Ability to read, interpret documents; write routine reports and presentations; speak effectively before various groups. Computer skills: Proficiency with electrical engineering design programs, Autocad, Word, Access, Excel, Windows. Physical demands: Frequent sitting, standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lb, protective equipment required. Work Environment: Office and field; exposure to high voltage electricity, computers, office and construction equipment. Engineer III Salary DOE Summary: Under general supervision, plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates moderate‑scope engineering projects or detailed phases of larger projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Manages all engineering aspects of moderate‑scope projects or detailed phases of major projects. Leads or conducts performance, cost, and scheduling studies of varying size and conventional in nature. Supports operational areas through application of standard and non‑standard engineering techniques, practices and procedures. Communicates engineering ideas, recommendations and evaluations to diverse internal groups. Represents the company’s interests in engineering matters. Provides technical support and training to field personnel, contractors and less‑experienced staff. Applies engineering expertise to improve or develop new standards and technologies. Provides technical direction or supervision to contractors and personnel on a regular basis. Competencies Broad knowledge and proven ability to apply engineering principles, practices and regulations to diverse areas such as generation, transmission, distribution, system planning, finance and regulatory issues, asset utilization and environmental controls. Read, interpret and apply national, state and local codes and standards (IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NESC, ACI, AISC, ASME, NACE, etc.). Translate electrical theory and physics to utility application for reliability. Make informed repair decisions following company protocols. Comfortable working in and around high voltage (up to 345 kV) facilities and equipment. Forecast budgets. Strong leadership, self‑motivation and interpersonal skills. Qualifications Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET‑accredited institution plus 4 or more years of engineering experience, or 3 or more years with Fundamentals of Engineering certificate, or 3 or more years with a Master’s Degree. Certificates, licenses and registrations: Fundamentals of Engineering certificate preferred; current, legally valid driver’s license. Communication skills: Ability to read and interpret documents; write routine reports, correspondence, speeches, and presentations; speak effectively before various audiences. Computer skills: In‑depth knowledge of personal computers, including proficiency with electrical engineering design programs and database software. Analysis and problem‑solving: Ability to apply common sense understanding to complex instructions and deal with complex problems involving multiple variables. Physical demands: Frequent sitting, standing, walking, exposure to outside elements, lifting up to 50 lb, crouching, bending, climbing and working at various heights; protective equipment required. Work Environment: Majority office time, occasional field exposure to high voltage electricity, computers and construction equipment. Engineer IV Salary DOE Summary: Under general supervision, plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates large and significant engineering projects or multiple small projects that are complex and often serves as a staff advisor and consultant. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provides advanced engineering and project management expertise for large and high‑profile projects. Leads or conducts performance, cost and scheduling studies requiring advanced techniques or modifications of standard practices. Provides highly skilled expertise to operational areas. Communicates engineering ideas, recommendations and evaluations to diverse internal and external audiences. Represents the company’s interests in advanced engineering matters. Identifies and resolves broad technical and organizational issues affecting company goals. Provides advanced technical support as a staff advisor or consultant; interacts with associates. Applies extensive engineering expertise to improve or develop new standards. Provides advanced and innovative technical direction and supervision to contractors and personnel as needed. Functions as a lead for staff engineers, professionals and technicians; provides training. Competencies Extensive knowledge and proven ability to apply diverse engineering principles, practices and regulations to complex issues including generation, transmission, distribution, system planning, finance, regulatory issues, asset utilization and environmental controls.
