About YieldSafe
YieldSafe handles property condition audits, major systems and appliance inventories, and VRLTA-required smoke detector certifications for residential property managers and landlords across Virginia. We work with property managers and landlords managing 50+ units, and currently service more than 850 rental units across Roanoke, the New River Valley, Lynchburg, and Charlottesville.

The role
We're looking for someone based in Charlottesville to own that and the Lynchburg territory, growing into YieldSafe's day-to-day full-time Operations Director — running daily operations, client relationships, and the field team — while the founder focuses on sales and growth. That's the actual role we're hiring for.

The way in is fieldwork, and it's genuinely simple: visiting vacant and occupied rental properties to conduct property condition audits, document systems and appliances, verify smoke detector function, and stay in regular contact with clients and residents. No trade skills or technical background needed. We'll train you on everything in a day or two. This stage isn't about being good with your hands; it's about learning how the business runs from the inside, and it's temporary by design.

What actually matters here is whether you can see yourself running a business, not whether you're currently proficient at the fieldwork itself. It's a strong fit if you already have income and a flexible daytime schedule: freelancers, people with flexible day jobs, retirees, or students all fit that description. Work happens during standard business hours. Occasionally, coverage may extend beyond Charlottesville and Lynchburg to other parts of YieldSafe's service area — Roanoke, Richmond, Harrisonburg, and similar — when needed.

What we're looking for

• Based in or near Charlottesville, with the ability to also reach Staunton and Lynchburg
• Genuine interest in eventually running day-to-day operations — the fieldwork is not the point, growing past it is
• A sales, revenue-growth, or business-development mindset: genuinely energized by growing something, not just completing assigned tasks
• Looking for a single place to grow as a W-2 team member, not a licensed contractor or 1099 business owner juggling multiple clients
• Reliable and comfortable being the only YieldSafe representative a client or resident interacts with
• Flexible daytime availability during the week
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and comfort with regional travel
• Must pass a background check

Compensation

• This is a W-2 position: taxes withheld, no self-employment filing required on your end
• Per completed job: 25% of the invoiced amount (approx. $23.75 on a typical $95 job), for a standard 60-75 minute job including drive time, plus mileage reimbursement
• Extended-travel pay: Trips outside the core Charlottesville/Lynchburg territory (Roanoke, Richmond, etc.) include added trip pay to reflect the extra drive time
• New client bonus: A flat per-door bonus for any client you personally bring on (e.g., a 50-unit client at $8/door = $400 total), paid in two parts: half once the client is signed and billing, half after the client has stayed active for 12 months
• Revenue share: As you take on more operational responsibility, the opportunity to share in company revenue — structure and terms discussed directly as that transition approaches
• Hours logged to confirm Virginia's minimum wage floor is met each pay period, as required by law
