Charge Master Specialist

Position Summary The Charge Master Specialist is responsible for the maintenance, accuracy, integrity, and ongoing analysis of the organization's Charge Description Master (CDM), also known as the Chargemaster. This position supports accurate charge capture, compliant billing, appropriate reimbursement, and revenue integrity across hospital and outpatient departments. The CDM Analyst works collaboratively with Revenue Cycle, Finance, HIM/Coding, Clinical Departments, Patient Financial Services, Compliance, Information Technology, and departmental leadership to ensure charges are accurately established, maintained, captured, and billed in accordance with applicable federal and state regulations, payer requirements, and organizational policies. Requirements Required Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age. Bachelor's degree in health information management, Healthcare Administration, Finance, Business or related field. Must possess a demonstrated knowledge of charge master maintenance, clinical processes, clinical coding (CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10 revenue codes and modifiers. Collaborative relationships across the organization. Promotes financial stewardship and facilitates bidirectional communication with clinical departments, providers and stakeholders. Accuracy and timeliness of CDM updates. Completion of annual and ongoing CDM reviews. Reduction in charge-related claim edits and denials. Identification and recovery of missed revenue opportunities. Reduction in charge capture errors. Timely resolution of CDM-related issues. Successful implementation and testing of new services and charges. Completion of departmental charge capture audits. Financial impact of revenue integrity initiatives. Compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
