Job Location: 747 - San Jose Sheraton – San Jose, CA 95035 Position Type: Full Time Salary Range: $20.00 - $20.00 Hourly Job Shift: Any Job Summary Greets and registers guests, provides prompt and courteous service, and closes out guest accounts upon completion of stay, ensuring guests have an exceptional stay in line with hotel standards. Essential Job Functions Greet customers immediately with a friendly and sincere welcome; use a positive and clear speaking voice, listen to understand requests, respond appropriately and provide accurate information such as outlet hours and local attractions. Complete the registration process by inputting and retrieving information from the computer system, confirming the number of guests and room rate, selecting rooms based on guest needs, coding electronic keys, certificates, and coupons as appropriate. Verify and imprint credit cards for authorization via electronic acceptance methods; handle cash, make change, balance the house bank, accept and record vouchers, travelers’ checks, and other forms of payment; post charges to guest rooms and house accounts. Promptly answer the telephone using positive and clear English communication; input and retrieve messages; collect mail, packages, and facsimiles for customers. Close guest accounts at checkout and ensure satisfaction; research and resolve dissatisfaction within established guidelines, escalating to a supervisor if necessary. Field guest complaints, conduct thorough research to develop solutions, and resolve complications such as location changes or credit issues; remain calm and alert during emergencies and heavy activity. Maintain clean corridors and service areas, adhere to all company policies and procedures, and follow safety and security protocols, including fire prevention and emergency procedures. Assist other Front Desk Personnel as needed and perform any related duties requested by the supervisor or manager. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities High school diploma preferred; prior hospitality experience preferred, but not required. Considerable skill in the use of a calculator and ability to prepare moderately complex mathematical calculations without error. Effective communication with internal and external customers, handling sensitive situations with patience, tact, and diplomacy. Ability to read, listen, and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system. Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations. Physical Demands Stand and move throughout the front office for 95% of the shift. Lifting up to 25 pounds maximum. Occasional twisting, bending, stooping, reaching, standing, and walking. Frequent talking, hearing, seeing, and smiling.
