As a Healthcare Economics Consultant, you will perform critical research, and you will have the opportunity to assess and inform key business priorities. You will apply strong analytical skills to develop and enhance quantitative analytics, support enterprise performance insights, and translate complex data into actionable recommendations. You will serve as a subject matter expert, analyzing clinical and financial data across multiple sources and leading efforts to identify opportunities for cost improvement and operational optimization.You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.Primary Responsibilities:Lead projects to completion by contributing to database creation, statistical modeling, and financial reportsDevelop, monitor, and improve key performance metrics to support business decision-makingDesign and develop data queries and programs using SQL, Python, and enterprise data platforms (e.g., Oracle, Snowflake) to analyze healthcare trends and business drivers, including medical cost and utilizationBuild reporting solutions, dashboards, and visualizations that translate complex data into clear, actionable information for stakeholdersCollaborate with business partners to translate requirements into analytical solutionsApply data quality and governance practices to ensure integrity and reliability of data and reportingConduct ad hoc analyses to solve complex business problems and provide consultative recommendationsPresent findings, project updates, and recommendations in a clear, leadership-ready formatYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as data science, analytics, mathematics, economics, business, statistics, engineering, or finance3+ years of experience translating complex analysis into clear recommendations for business or leadership stakeholders3+ years of experience using SQL or an alternative to extract, transform, analyze, and report on complex data (e.g., Databricks)3+ years of experience analyzing healthcare, financial, operational, or business performance dataIntermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, or similar business productivity toolsProven analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skillsProven excellent verbal and written communication skillsProven ability to quickly learn and adapt to new tools, technologies, and methodologiesPreferred Qualifications:Advanced degree in a relevant field such as data science, analytics, mathematics, economics, business, statistics, engineering, or financeExperience with data visualization platforms such as Power BI or similar toolsExperience with machine learning or AI models and algorithmsExperience working with large healthcare, claims, clinical, financial, or operational data setsExperience with Snowflake or cloud-based data platformsAdvanced proficiency with analytic or programming tools such as R, Python, or similar platformsProven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment*All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter PolicyPay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
