Job Description This role is field‑based and candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city. The position is for an Account Specialist responsible for maximizing opportunities for the product portfolio in a single‑layer geography. The role involves networking, client services, and a thorough understanding of institutional and medical practices. Compensation: $78,500 base. Salary range: $78,500 (may vary based on geography and other factors). The role may include short‑term incentive programs. Responsibilities Advance hospital and specialty customers along the sales continuum and gain prescriber commitments through effective questioning, active listening, and use of approved data and resources. Deliver on‑label presentations and calls to highlight product benefits and risks, create awareness, and address gaps in therapeutic areas, resulting in sales goal achievement. Develop professional relationships and differentiate the Anti‑Infective portfolio’s value proposition at all levels (C‑Suite, physicians, hospital staff, support personnel) to further product usage. Understand and problem‑solve product and patient flow through Specialty Pharmacy, Specialty Distribution, and Buy and Bill channels; coordinate and mobilize key stakeholders across departments with competing goals to align patient‑focused solutions. Use opportunities to understand and address customer needs, build strong relationships that provide market intelligence and support development of compliant and innovative programs and initiatives. Achieve success in a complex, matrixed, account‑based selling environment requiring collaboration and cross‑functional discipline. Partner consistently with AbbVie in‑field and in‑house teams to identify, design, and adapt appropriate approaches and tactics. Create, develop, execute, and monitor strategic geographic business plans; determine appropriate department, channel, HCP focus and frequency by account; align resources to support tactic execution; adjust as needed. Source, interpret, and utilize key data by account to develop and maintain working account profiles and relationship maps for all territory accounts; consistently target key stakeholders and decision makers within each hospital/institution/outpatient setting. Attend and actively participate in local boards, societies, conventions, and other HCP meetings when appropriate; represent AbbVie and assigned products, build and improve relationships; channel key information to internal partners; all communications are on‑label. Complete all AbbVie required training and maintain adherence to company policies and OEC/Legal procedures. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, business, or related field preferred, or relevant industry experience required. Equivalent experience may substitute for a degree; high school diploma or GED required. Account‑based selling experience in hospitals, wound care centers, infusion centers, or similar; experience building advocacy in hospitals with or without formulary wins; history of navigating matrix environment and complex customers. Knowledge of formulary approval process and experience driving approvals; preference for experience with Buy and Bill and specialty pharmacy products. Documented history of strong sales performance and consistent top performer in challenging markets; advanced sales skills, ability to communicate complex products simply; strong team player and successful individual contributor. Strong business acumen: accountability for sales geography, multitasking, problem solving, influencing without authority, prioritizing accounts, analytical skills. Strong planning, organization, presentation, facilitation, and learning skills; ability to present complex scientific information to diverse audiences; problem‑resolution skills. Credible role model influences others; builds collaborative partnerships; leads by example; displays positive behaviors and peer coaching. Ability to fully cover the assigned geography. Valid driver’s license; pre‑employment drug screening; safe driving requirements. Ability to travel adequately; overnight attendance at scheduled training, sales meetings. Use personal auto, company vehicle, or powered material handling equipment. Meet health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities; maintain good standing. Credentialing may include background checks, drug screens, immunization proof, fingerprinting, license requirements; ensure compliance. Additional Information The compensation range described reflects the base pay the Company believes in good faith it will pay at the time of posting based on the job grade.
